Expertise

Graeme is a specialist in high value and technically complex international construction and engineering disputes.  He also has significant experience in High Court litigation and all forms of ADR.  For more than 25 years Graeme has acted for globally renowned employers, contractors and sub-contractors in disputes throughout most parts of the world. In recent years the majority of Graeme's cases have emanated from Asia, Eastern Europe and the GCC where he has represented governments, contractors and sub-contractors in disputes and projects concerning power stations, transport systems, bridges, ports, pipe-lines, oil fields and off-shore drilling rigs.

Graeme has over the years led the Firm's construction offering in both Korea and, more recently, in Turkey.  He is the Firm's principal partner responsible for our Global Connect relationships, from a construction perspective, with the construction practices of Europe's leading law firms and was between 2012 - 2019 the President of the British Korean Law Association.

Graeme's recent experience includes having acted for:

  • a government entity in the Middle East concerning a transportation system with claims exceeding US$2 billion.  
  • a Turkish contractor in GCC arbitration proceedings concerning a flag ship real estate development in Bahrain
  • an international contractor in ICC arbitration proceedings concerning a multi billion dollar water and power facility in Qatar
  • a major international contractor concerning disputes arising out of the construction of a fertiliser plant in the UAE
  • a major global contractor concerning a US $4 billion infrastructure project in Saudi Arabia
  • a Korean contractor in arbitration proceedings concerning a power project in West Africa
  • a Japanese – Korean Joint Venture in relation to a dispute regarding the design and construction of a bridge in Uganda
  • an Asian contractor in arbitration proceedings concerning an on-shore / off-shore LNG facility in the Middle East
  • a Turkish contractor in joint venture with a North American engineering company in arbitration proceedings concerning a chemical plant in the Middle East
  • an Asian contractor in arbitration proceedings concerning a container port facility in Vietnam
