Iain is a Legal Director in our Finance & Projects Division, specialising in non-contentious transactional finance work. He has a particular focus on social, sustainable and green finance and social housing finance and is regularly the lead associate on some of the most significant transactions in those sectors.

Recent transactions include advising:

• all 18 lenders on all aspects of the £11bn merger of Peabody and Catalyst. This involved advising the lenders on all aspects of the matter from advising each lender on the merger activity (and the necessary consents under existing facility agreements) to the amendments and/or restatements of existing facilities;
• The Royal Bank of Scotland plc on their first sustainability-linked loan in the sector with Bromford Housing Group Limited which included a margin ratchet down if pre-agreed environmental targets relating to the energy efficiency of existing stock were met by Bromford; and
• all four lenders on the merger between Great Places Housing Association and Equity Housing Group Limited and the restatement of circa £340m of debt facilities, creating a combined organisation with over £1.5bn of housing assets.
