Addleshaw Goddard strengthens Real Estate Practice with two senior appointments

International law firm Addleshaw Goddard (AG) is delighted to announce two significant appointments to its Real Estate team: Kirsty Black and Hannah Quarterman.

Joining AG’s Manchester office from Shoosmiths, where she led the North Real Estate Disputes team, Kirsty brings over 20 years of experience advising on complex commercial property disputes, with a particular focus on landlord and tenant law. Nationally recognised for her work with leading retailers on their property portfolios and ranked a ‘leading partner’ by The Legal 500, Kirsty specialises in all aspects of contentious property work. Her expertise includes business lease renewals, rent reviews, restrictive covenant issues, rights of occupation, landlord’s consents, dilapidations, and service charge disputes.

Kirsty’s appointment follows the arrival of Managing Associate Emily Short and Associate Hollie Wright from Shoosmiths last year, cementing AG’s position as the largest Real Estate Disputes team in Manchester by some margin.

Hannah joins AG’s London office as a Partner in the Planning and Infrastructure Consenting team, bringing nearly two decades of experience from Hogan Lovells, where she led the Planning team. Described as ‘absolutely exceptional’ in The Legal 500, Hannah is widely recognised for advising leading developers on strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and the delivery of complex, multi-phase developments. Her track record includes high-profile projects such as Brent Cross Town, Bishopsgate Goodsyard, and major regeneration schemes across London, often navigating intricate planning negotiations and fostering collaboration with local authorities and communities.

Marnix Elsenar, Partner and Head of Planning and Infrastructure Consenting at AG, commented:

Hannah brings exceptional insight and experience across all planning-related matters, having advised some of the country’s most prominent developers. Her arrival directly supports our strategic ambition to lead on London’s most significant transformational schemes. We are delighted to welcome Hannah to the team.”

With over 350 Real Estate specialists, Addleshaw Goddard offers end-to-end support across any transaction, regardless of scale or complexity. The team provides comprehensive expertise across mainstream real estate, corporate, structuring, tax, planning, construction, construction litigation, environment, real estate disputes, and funding. Last year, the firm welcomed new partners including Amit Unadkat (cross-border private equity) and Farhod Moghadam (real estate investments), and looks forward to continued growth in the coming months.
