Josh is a construction specialist with experience in both non-contentious and contentious construction. He is also a specialist in sustainable construction and is sought for his knowledge in this evolving area.
Non-contentious
Josh acts for developers, funders, joint ventures and consortiums on all aspects of construction projects from inception through to construction, completion and beyond and works across numerous sectors including residential, hotel, logistics and student accommodation. He has experience in drafting and advising on complex construction schemes including the negotiation of development agreements/development management agreements, forward funding contracts, building contracts and professional appointments and warranties. He has experience of the major forms of JCT contract along with the NEC, IChemE and FIDIC forms.
Contentious
Josh advises clients on dispute avoidance and has experience of a wide variety of dispute resolution processes including adjudication, High Court litigation and mediation. He has successfully pursued and defended adjudications and is relied on for his pragmatic approach in advising his clients as to how to resolve disputes quickly and cost effectively as well as mitigating the risk of disputes developing further.

- the procurement of the construction package for Phase II and Phase III of the Battersea Power Station development
- acting for Travelodge on the construction and refurbishment of a number of their hotels across the UK
- acting for banks and other institutional lenders on the construction due diligence for developments across the hotel, retail and residential sectors
- advising Norlake Hospitality regarding construction works across their hotel portfolio in the UK and Europe
- acting for Federated Hermes in the forward funding of numerous BTR schemes across London
