Katie Cleworth is a UK-qualified lawyer in our employment practice, based in Dubai. Katie works alongside Ben Brown.
Katie’s practice covers all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law in the United Arab Emirates and its free zones (including the Dubai International Financial Centre and the Abu Dhabi Global Market) Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia
Katie advises employers on day-to-day compliance with employment laws, including recruitment and immigration issues, drafting and advising on employment contracts and policies, managing performance, employee transfers, secondments, bonus and commission disputes and issues arising on termination of employment including the enforcement of post-termination restrictions and the protection of confidential information and trade secrets. Katie also has significant experience advising on the employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings and reorganisations.

- international and local companies on employment related matters, the UAE Labour Law and the requirements of the UAE General Pension and Social Security Authority.
- on UAE federal labour court cases, including defending commission and bonus related claims.
- on the dismissal of local and expatriate employees in GCC countries.
- an international company on the implementation of a global employee performance incentive plan in the GCC.
- international companies on employment related matters and complying with their obligations under the KSA Labour Law and the requirements of the General Organisation for Social Insurance.
