Addleshaw Goddard advises Peel on £55.2mn of Grant Funding for Regeneration of Central Docks at Liverpool Waters

International law firm Addleshaw Goddard has advised Peel Waters on £55.2 million of Brownfield Infrastructure Land grant funding from Homes England, with Liverpool City Council acting as accountable body.

Peel Waters have announced the appointment of Grahams to deliver the regeneration of the Central Docks neighbourhood in Liverpool Waters, the largest brownfield site in Liverpool. Approximately 2,350 new homes including affordable, build-to-rent, build-to-sell and elderly living will ultimately be delivered on Central Docks by Peel Waters.

The £71 million contract awarded to Graham represents the largest portion of the £81.1 million total project cost. The investment will be underpinned by £25.9 million direct investment from Peel Waters, alongside a substantial £55.2 million contribution from Homes England.

The appointment marks another major step forward in the regeneration of Liverpool Waters. The 60-hectare, former dockland site is being transformed into a vibrant, mixed-use waterfront neighbourhood over 30 years and continues to stimulate substantial economic growth to North Liverpool and the wider Liverpool City Region. The development supports the Government's plans to build 1.5 million new homes across the UK in the next five years, with Liverpool Central Docks named as a New Homes Accelerator site by the Chancellor.

The Addleshaw Goddard team was led by Andrew Pettinger, with support from Caitlin Biggs, Mark Crane, Nat Avdiu and Richard Chandler.

Andrew Pettinger, Partner also said:

"Our team has extensive experience in regeneration and infrastructure projects, and we are pleased to have used this knowledge to support Peel on this transaction.”

Chris Capes, Director of Development at Liverpool Waters, said:

"Securing this funding is a hugely important milestone in the regeneration of Liverpool Waters and the team at Addleshaw Goddard played an important role. The transformation of Central Docks will unlock thousands of much-needed new homes, create jobs, and deliver high-quality public spaces along our iconic waterfront. Working alongside our partners at Homes England and Liverpool City Council, this investment will accelerate delivery and bring us another step closer to realising the full potential of Liverpool Waters as a thriving, sustainable mixed-use neighbourhood for the city and the wider region."
