Expertise

Valerie is a Counsel in our Singapore office.  She focuses on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures. She regularly advises either sell-side or buy-side parties on strategic and financial acquisitions.  Her M&A experience spans various markets, including Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Hong Kong, the Middle East, Australia and the United Kingdom.  Valerie also advises on general corporate and commercial law. 

She has also provided fund formation advice both in private practice and as an in-house counsel in a well-known sovereign wealth fund. She has acted for a broad range of clients, including companies of all sizes, sovereign wealth funds, and private equity and venture capital funds.  She has worked on matters in several sectors of the market, including energy, infrastructure, technology, consumer goods, healthcare and education.  She is triple qualified and has practised law in major firms in Singapore, Hong Kong and London.

Her experience includes:

• Acted for Grab, a Singapore-based superapp, on its strategic partnership and investment into PT Trans Retail, one of Indonesia's largest hypermarket chains. *
• Acted for Mitsui, a Japanese conglomerate, on its investment in Indonesian solar energy startup, Xurya. *
• Acted for Bespin Global on its joint venture with e& to provide a one-stop cloud solution to enterprises in the Middle East.*
• Acted for Israel Corporation on its spin-off of Kenon Holdings and the subsequent dual-listing of Kenon Holdings on NYSE and TASE.  This was an unprecedented transaction with an appraised value of US$1.06 billion.*
• Acted for Global Logistic Properties, a global owner, developer and operator of logistics real estate and renewable energy assets on its IPO on the SGX, which at that time was Singapore’s largest IPO.*
