Expertise

Tristan is a Managing Associate in AG's corporate and M&A team in Muscat, Oman.  He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of New South Wales and was admitted as a lawyer in Australia in 2016.

Tristan has worked on high-value commercial transactions in the Middle East, Europe and Australia.  In Europe, he specialised in cross-border transactions at a leading international law firm.  In the Middle East, Tristan has worked with sovereign wealth funds, international conglomerates and high-net worth families on making investments in Oman and the wider region.  He has experience advising private equity and venture capital clients, and has worked on deals in the energy (including renewables), tech, pharmaceutical, healthcare, hospitality and finance sectors, among others.  Tristan has also worked extensively with insurers on the placement of warranty and indemnity insurance in the context of M&A transactions.  Tristan has recently been recognised by Thomas Reuters as a Stand-Out Lawyer.

Experience
  • Advised the Social Protection Fund on its acquisition of a minority position in an Oman based subsidiary of an international mining conglomerate.
  • Advised the Tawoos Group on its acquisition of two hospitals and six health clinics from the NMC Healthcare Group as part of a distressed sale.
  • Advised Qatar Investment Authority on a joint-venture investment in the Oman hotel and tourism sector in Oman.
  • Advised a leading sovereign wealth fund on its participation as an anchor investor in the USD 750 million initial public offering of OQ Gas Networks SAOG, Oman's largest IPO at that date.
  • Advised a JV entity established by Oman Investment Authority and Qatar Investment Authority on the conclusion of a secured finance facility for OMR 47 million (USD 122 million) to fund its acquisition of shares in a publicly listed company.
  • Advised Oman Investment Authority on the establishment of Future Fund Oman which has a capital of USD 5.2 billion to invest in line with the national directive to boost Oman's economic development and attract international investors.
