Addleshaw Goddard boosts Private Equity platform with three-partner team hire
Addleshaw Goddard (AG), the London-headquartered international law firm, has recruited leading Private Equity partners Jason Zemmel, Daniel Weston and Jamie Burgess to its London office, significantly strengthening the firm's Private Equity and M&A capabilities and reinforcing its commitment to strategic growth in key City markets.
The trio join from McDermott and bring extensive experience advising private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, management teams and corporates on domestic and cross-border transactions. Recognised for their work across the mid-market, they add further depth to AG's fast-growing Private Equity practice, one of the UK's leading mid-market PE teams.
Their arrival marks another significant investment in AG's Corporate practice and follows recent Private Equity partner hires from leading international law firms, reflecting the firm's continued focus on attracting high-calibre talent in strategic growth areas.
David Kirchin, Head of Corporate & Commercial at Addleshaw Goddard, continued:
"Their arrival demonstrates our commitment to investing in market-leading talent and supporting the continued growth of our Corporate and Private Equity practices. As we continue to execute our AG2030 strategy, our ability to attract lawyers of this calibre reflects both the strength of our platform and the opportunities we can offer ambitious partners and their clients.”
Paul Medlicott, Head of Private Equity at Addleshaw Goddard, added:
“We have known Jason, Daniel and Jamie for many years and have consistently been impressed by the quality of their work, their commercial approach and their strong client relationships. Mid-market private equity lies at the heart of our private equity practice and the team's arrival reinforces our commitment to that. They bring significant transactional expertise, an impressive cross-border track record and valuable sector experience, particularly in Health, Social Care and Education and across Professional Services too (being particularly active sectors in the mid-market at present). Just as importantly, they are highly collaborative and market facing lawyers. Their arrival will enhance our offering to existing clients while creating exciting opportunities to further expand our market presence.”
Commenting on the move, Jason Zemmel said:
“We are delighted to be joining Addleshaw Goddard at such an exciting point in its growth journey. The firm has established one of the strongest private equity practices in the market, supported by an ambitious strategy, an outstanding culture and a genuinely international platform. We have been impressed by the quality of the team, the strength of the client base and the opportunities to build on the firm's continued momentum. We look forward to working with our new colleagues and helping drive further growth across the Private Equity practice.”
The three partners previously worked together for more than a decade at McDermott and a prior firm and are recognised for advising on a broad range of private equity and M&A transactions. Their arrival further expands AG's capabilities for sponsors, investors and management teams operating across the UK and international markets.
