Luke is a Partner in our construction and engineering team. He heads up the firm's Hotels, Leisure and Workspaces sector and is listed as a "Leading Partner" for both Non-Contentious Construction and Hospitality and Leisure in the Legal 500.

Luke specialises in non-contentious construction and engineering matters. He has significant expertise in both domestic and international construction and engineering projects. He has worked across a broad range of sectors including real estate development (such as retail, town centre regeneration, office, leisure, residential, hotel and mixed-use schemes), education, mining, manufacturing/industrials, data centre, waste and energy projects.

He advises on procurement strategies as well as the drafting and negotiation of development agreements, standard form (including JCT, NEC, FIDIC, IChemE and MF/1) and bespoke construction and engineering contracts, sub-contracts, supply agreements, professional appointments, guarantees, bonds and other ancillary construction documents.

Luke is the Client Relationship Partner for Holcim, Breedon Group, GRS Roadstone, Asahi Group, Sir Robert McAlpine Capital Ventures, Navigator Terminals, Sygna Group, Lifestyle Hospitality Capital Group, Norlake Hospitality, That Group, Village Hotels, Mothercare, Yorkshire Water, OCS Group, Heatherwick Studios and United Colleges Group. He is also a key adviser on construction matters to clients including Federated Hermes, Savills Investment Management, Travelodge, Carlsberg Britvic, HB Reavis, Nationwide Building Society, Middlecap, JTRE, University of Greenwich and Royal Mail.

Experience

Acting for Middlecap on the redevelopment of The Ebbgate (formerly Seal House), Upper Thames Street, London. This is an Eric Parry Architects designed scheme of an 11-storey building to comprise over 150,000 sq ft of office and retail space, resturants, external terraces and a rooftop public viewing garden.
Acting for the Federated Hermes "Hestia" residential fund on the forward-funded development of a number of share ownership, social rent and build-to-rent developments across the UK including Anston House (Brighton), SOYO (Leeds), Axion House (Lewisham) and The Hyde (Hendon), with a combined value of over GBP 400 million.
Acting for Savills Investment Management on a number of predominantly single-family residential schemes throughout the UK.
Acting for major food and drinks businesses on extensive upgrades to their manufacturing and bottling facilities.
Acting for Travelodge on the construction and refurbishment of a number of their hotels across the UK.
Acting for Norlake Hospitality on the acquisition of a trading hotel and the development, refurbishment and financing of a number of its hotels across London and Europe.
Acting for That Group in relation to a number of mixed-use, hotel-led development projects around the UK.
Acting for owners and contractors on the construction of numerous anaerobic digestion and solar energy plants in the UK, including the first AD gas to grid project in Scotland.
Advising a mining company on the construction documentation for a new over AUD 7 billion iron ore mine and related infrastructure in Western Australia.
