Expertise
Ben is an Associate in the Competition and Regulatory team based in Manchester. Ben has experience advising clients on a range of competition and regulatory issues across a broad range of sectors. In particular, Ben has represented clients involved in regulatory investigations conducted by the CMA, has advised clients on Phase 1 CMA merger control investigations, represented clients before the CAT, and has experience advising clients on antitrust and regulatory matters.
Prior to joining Addleshaw Goddard, Ben completed the Barrister Training Course and has been called to the Bar of England & Wales. Since joining Addleshaw Goodard, Ben has also completed the Solicitors Qualifying Examination course, qualifying as a Solicitor in March 2025.
- Experience
Ben’s highlights include:
- Representing a client in phase 1 merger control proceedings before the Competition and Markets Authority in the construction and industrials sector. Obtained phase 1 clearance with no remedies imposed in a three-to-two situation
- Advising a radar manufacturer on its proposed acquisition of a counter-drone services provider. Successfully submitted briefing paper to the CMA, obtaining clearance with “no further questions”
- Advising an airline services provider on its strategic acquisition of a competitor, including advising on options for strategic engagement with the Competition and Markets Authority. Successfully obtained clearance from the CMA with “no further questions” following a briefing paper submission
- Responding to dawn raids by the Competition and Markets Authority and the European Commission and representing clients in the subsequent investigations including recently in Concrete Admixtures
- Experienced in advising on the UK’s National Security and Investment Act (NSIA) regime, including experience on advising clients in relation to Call-In Notices
