Professional Services Group Mourant secures landmark funding deal, supported by Addleshaw Goddard
The Private Equity and Professional Services teams at law firm Addleshaw Goddard has advised Mourant, the international professional services group, on a minority equity investment from MML, a specialist provider of partnership capital.
Mourant provides integrated legal, corporate, entity management and fund administration services to many of the world's leading private capital firms, banks, institutional investors and global corporations, with a headcount of around 1,000 people across nine international finance centres.
The investment will support the Group's continued focus on delivering exceptional client outcomes, including further investment in technology - particularly in AI-enabled systems and data infrastructure - and in people, through enhanced career pathways and the development of next generation talent. It will also support measured geographic expansion across the world's leading international financial centres.
The Addleshaw Goddard team advising on the deal was led by Paul Medlicott and included Sharon Skipper-Gordon, Dan Conway, Johnny Cakebread, Ben Sanderson, Michael Terry, Eleanor Chatterton, Henna Thakur and Ted Hendey.
Paul Medlicott said:
"This transaction reflects the continued strength of investor appetite for high-quality professional services businesses, particularly those with differentiated offerings, international reach and clear opportunities for growth. As the sector continues to evolve, we are seeing increasing interest from specialist and private equity investors looking to partner with market-leading businesses that are investing in their people, technology and client service capabilities."
"We are delighted to have advised Mourant on this landmark investment and would like to congratulate all parties on reaching this significant milestone. The transaction further demonstrates Addleshaw Goddard's extensive experience advising clients across the professional services and private equity markets on complex, strategic investments and growth transactions."
Mourant Group Limited will continue to wholly-own the governance and consulting businesses, as well as Mourant's operational infrastructure and brand, whilst continuing to supply managed services to the separate law firm entities.
Control of the Group, and its leadership, will remain with Mourant's existing owners. Control and ownership of the law firm entities will remain with the relevant locally-qualified partners.
