BCL Legal and Addleshaw Goddard are delighted to invite you to our AI seminar at Addleshaw Goddard's Leeds office.

It will cover legal and practical considerations for the procurement and use of AI and will focus on practical points that in-house lawyers need to have on their radar, drawing out business and legal risks.

The session will include:

  • Introduction to generative and agentic AI (and why the difference matters)
  • AI Regulatory landscape (UK and EU) – brief overview of the current legal framework and what we see coming down the line. Considerations on territorial scope of the legislation and use and deployment of systems across the UK and EU.
  • Legal risks and considerations – contracting for AI involves a number of legal risks which are significantly different from traditional tech contracts, including:
    • Accuracy of outputs and hallucinations
    • Lack of accountability and liability for AI generated errors
    • Intellectual property ownership of inputs and output materials,
    • Transparency and model explainability
    • Bias and discrimination
    • Confidentiality risks
    • Regulatory non-compliance
  • Data Protection and Cyber Risk including secondary use of data, accountability, governance and security
  • Contracting for AI - key terms and what to watch-out for when contracting for AI; a look at some of the common supplier terms which need to be on your radar, IP, re-use of user data, security, restrictions on use, liability and indemnities
  • Potential Pitfalls and Navigating Disputes

This seminar will be led by Claire Edwards, Charlotte Marshall and Michael Peeters, Commercial Partners and James Hyde, Tech Disputes Partner at Addleshaw Goddard.
