Trusted counsel for our nation's decisions.
Acting for HM Government is part of Addleshaw Goddard’s DNA. We have advised numerous ministerial departments, executive agencies and NDPBs on strategically important, high profile projects and programmes for many years.
In addition, we also support the UK's local authorities, where we regularly advise councils from the Greater London Authority to the Highland Council.
We understand not only the legal framework within which government operates but also the high level of political scrutiny which is applied to the decisions it makes and how this impacts on the legal advice it requires.
Post Office Horizon Compensation Schemes
We are working with the Department for Business and Trade to deliver three compensation schemes to hundreds of people affected by the flaws in the Post Office's Horizon IT system.
This includes 492 claimants in the Bates (and others) v Post Office Group Litigation over 900 victims who had their convictions overturned by the Court of Appeal or quashed by statute following what has been described as the UK's most widespread miscarriage of justice.
