EXPERTISE
Szymon leads the TMT/IP practice at Addleshaw Goddard Poland. He specializes in all aspects of technology, privacy, intellectual property and e-commerce law. His experience includes transactional, regulatory, and contractual matters for international and local clients across a range of sectors, including banking, technology, healthcare, real estate, gaming, media, e-commerce, industrials and retail. His experience spans data protection, intellectual property (patents, trademarks, designs, copyrights, know-how, Internet domains) and new technologies law. He regularly advises on matters relating to data protection (GDPR, ePrivacy), IT agreements, new technologies (AI, IoT, big data), cybersecurity and telecommunications. He designed and implemented group-wide GDPR compliance programmes for many clients and has experience in cybersecurity matters, including cyber preparedness and cyber incident response. Szymon also advises clients on the legal aspects of using artificial intelligence systems and on AI governance.
Work highlights*:
- Cerberus Capital Management: advising on IP and TMT aspects of the PLN 1.075bn acquisition of 100% of the shares in VeloBank.
- InfraVia Capital Partners: advising on the IP and TMT aspects of the acquisition of 50% of Polski Światłowód Otwarty from PLAY Group for PLN 1.8bn and on the IP and TMT aspects of the acquisition of 50% stake in OPCORE alongside iliad Group, a partnership aimed at creating a major independent European hyperscale data center platform (JV value of EUR 860m).
- DP World: advising on the legal implications of a cyberattack, including communication with the Polish supervisory authorities.
- Global technology vendor: representing the Client in privacy litigation before Polish courts.
- Stellantis: advising on the Polish aspects of the acquisition of AI framework, machine learning models and intellectual property rights of CloudMade, a developer of smart and innovative big data-driven automotive solutions.

- Education
Szymon graduated with a distinction from the Faculty of Law at Jagiellonian University and completed LL.M. studies at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. As part of the Erasmus programme, he studied at Free University of Berlin, and completed studies in new technologies law run by Kozminski University in Warsaw.
Szymon is a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe. He obtained certification issued by the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals.
- Professional Memberships
Szymon is a member of the presidium of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Commission at ICC Poland and a member of the Artificial Intelligence Working Group at the Ministry of Digital Affairs. He is also the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) KnowledgeNet Chapter Chair for Poland, and a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe.
