Expertise

Phelim has extensive experience in the Irish energy sector and has advised clients on a wide range of energy transactions, including on the development, finance and sale of some of the largest wind and solar farms in the Irish market. Phelim has specialist experience in advising clients on project agreements tailored to energy projects (including EPCs, balance of plant contracts, turbine supply and maintenance agreements and power purchase agreements). He also advises on the regulation of the energy market in Ireland, including complexities relating to EU and domestic energy legislation. In addition, Phelim is experienced in the Irish data centre sector and has advised on large data centre projects for multinational clients in Co. Dublin, Ireland.

Experience
  • Advised Berenberg on its cross-border project financing of 1.3GWp of solar projects across Great Britain and Ireland to be developed by Elgin Energy.
  • Advised multinational data centre developers in relation to all aspects of their proposed data centre projects in Dublin, Ireland, including grid connection and power supply arrangements, construction agreements and consultant appointments.
  • Advised an international solar developer on the development of large solar projects in Ireland.  
  • Advised an Irish pillar bank on the financing of eight solar projects to be developed in Co. Cork, Ireland. 
  • Advised an international conglomerate on the sale of its shareholding in a large wind farm in Co. Sligo and on the subsequent sale of its interest in a 400MW CCGT power plant in Co. Galway, Ireland.
