Sarah is a commercial and data protection lawyer. Prior to pursuing a career in law, she studied international relations and worked in pharmaceutical clinical trial administration in Seattle. She has worked with clients across a range of sectors. She regularly advises on day-to-day data protection and privacy matters, including on complex data sharing arrangements (often involving international data transfers) and data transfer impact and risk assessments, compliant data protection policies and practices, electronic marketing strategies, and responding to FOI, EIR and data subject access requests.

Experience
  • Advising financial services clients on UK GDPR compliance – including assisting in the preparation of Data Protection Impact Assessments and compliant data protection policies for the establishment of Cash Access UK Limited, a company created by the UK's largest high street banking providers to protect access to cash and in-person banking services across the UK.
  • Advising a major UK bank on international data transfer compliance in the wake of the Schrems II decision from the CJEU, including leveraging legal technology to conduct Transfer Risk Assessments for transfers of personal data to major international suppliers, and amending supplier contracts to update data protection provisions.
  • Regularly advising on data protection, commercial, IT and IP elements of purchases of businesses (particularly renewable energy and property businesses) reviewing contractual arrangements and business practices, and suggesting remediation plans.
  • Reviewing technology and marketing contracts for a high street retail brand to advise on commercial risks and data protection compliance in new supplier relationships.
