Addleshaw Goddard strengthens Corporate Crime and Investigations capability with strategic partner hire

International law firm Addleshaw Goddard (AG) has enhanced its disputes and investigations offering with the appointment of Nicholas Queree as Partner in its Global Investigations team.

Nick joins AG from Slaughter and May, where he was Senior Counsel in the firm’s Disputes and Investigations group. He advises corporates on complex, multijurisdictional enforcement matters, including engagement with the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) and other agencies, negotiating coordinated cross-border settlements, and implementing compliance enhancements post resolution.

Over recent years, Nick has focused on multijurisdictional corporate enforcement matters, advising businesses on complex investigations, coordinating cross-border settlements, and implementing compliance enhancements post-resolution. His expertise spans:

  • Government and internal investigations – including financial misreporting, governance failures and tax issues across sectors such as FMCG, aerospace, oil and gas, and pharmaceuticals.
  • Sanctions and regulatory advisory – advising on sanctions compliance and OFSI investigations, POCA disclosures and the implications of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act (ECCTA).
  • Global investigations – managing complex matters involving authorities in the US, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Further, last month, AG’s Global Investigations team welcomed Ross McCartney as Legal Director, joining from Morgan Stanley, to specialise in contentious regulatory matters and complex financial investigations.

AG has been on a strong growth trajectory, making 19 UK lateral hires across key practice areas over the past year, including senior figures in disputes and regulatory. The firm recently launched a dedicated Tax Disputes and Investigations team led by Steven Porter and four colleagues from Pinsent Masons. In addition, AG continues to strengthen its international footprint, opening its 21st office in Abu Dhabi and adding new locations including Warsaw, following the integration of an 80-person team from Linklaters. The firm was recently named UK Law Firm of the Year at the British Legal Awards.

For the year to 30 April 2025, AG delivered record results with revenue up 11% to £550.9m and profit rising 6% to £224.1m, marking its eighth consecutive year of growth. These results underscore the momentum behind AG2030, the strategy launched in November 2024 by Managing Partner Andrew Johnston, which targets £1bn in revenue by 2030 through international expansion and sector-led growth.

David Pygott, Global Investigations Partner at Addleshaw Goddard, said:

“Ross’s hire adds real depth to our bench across multi jurisdictional enforcement and contentious regulatory matters. Ross has extensive contentious regulatory experience both from private practice and in-house practice at a global investment bank.  His arrival strengthens our ability to assist clients with large-scale contentious regulatory investigations, particularly those in the wholesale markets.”
