Gary has over 15 years’ experience advising clients from across the development industry and in the public sector on all aspect of planning, compulsory purchase, infrastructure and habitats law to help deliver high-profile projects. He is particularly known for his work advising clients on projects in the housing, energy and manufacturing sectors. He is adept at helping to define and execute robust, solution-orientated planning strategies which use the planning system to facilitate, rather than hinder, delivery and value. 

Gary is very experienced at auditing planning application submissions to ensure legal compliance, negotiating and drafting complex planning and highways agreements, and advising clients on the application and effect of national, local and neighbourhood planning policy. He has an excellent working knowledge of the infrastructure planning system and Community Infrastructure Levy. He has acted for clients and led teams working on valuation dispute references to the Lands Chamber of the Upper Tribunal at numerous planning inquiries and hearings and at Development Consent Order examinations. In relation to the defence and prosecution of legal challenges to planning and related consents, both in the High Court and at the Court of Appeal, he has significant expertise advising on evidence and litigation strategy.
