Heather has over 4 years of experience in FCA and compliance matters, with a particular focus on consumer credit and mortgage regulation. As part of her training contract she undertook a six month secondment in the consumer finance division of a large retail bank and has provided on-site legal support for a mid-sized building society. Heather's experience includes: 

  • Delivery of the team's financial promotions service, for the review and sign off of marketing in relating to the provision of credit, mortgages, savings and insurance
  • Review and analysis of regulatory consumer credit permissions and supporting firms with FCA authorisation applications and compliance matters
  • Drafting and review of consumer credit documentation for compliance with regulations including, pre-contract information, credit agreements and post contractual notices
  • Review of customer journeys and sales processes across numerous sales channels in relation to the presentation and provision of information in accordance with consumer credit requirements
  • Drafting and review of mortgage terms and conditions and product documentation in compliance with MCOB, and advice on implementation of new products to market
  • Drafting and review of retail and commercial banking and savings terms and conditions for compliance with Payment Services Regulations 2017
  • Due diligence and regulatory support on financial services transactions
  • Supporting debt sale transactions and Bank of England Funding for Lending scheme prepositioning
  • Advising on unfair contract terms issues and compliance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and wider consumer protection legislation
