Expertise
Ed is a Managing Associate in the Social, Sustainable and Green Finance team.
His practice involves advising on complex financing transactions designed to have a positive impact on environments, societies and economies, and he has broad experience across banking, private credit, structured finance and debt capital markets. He has a particular interest in advising clients working in emerging and frontier markets internationally, or addressing regional inequalities in the United Kingdom.
From 2020 to 2024 he was senior legal counsel at the British Business Bank, the UK Government’s economic development bank, where he advised on warehousing, SRT, securitisation and structured guarantee transactions designed to support the UK’s economic growth and improve access to finance for smaller businesses. He began his career at a major international law firm, advising sovereign governments and emerging markets corporates on finance and capital markets transactions.
He is an author for the CFA Institute’s Certificate in Impact Investing.

Recent experience includes:
- Advising a syndicate of development finance institutions on a multi-currency senior unsecured facility of approximately $160 million for a Turkish bank, to support SMEs and microenterprises in rural areas, sustainable agriculture and women’s banking in Turkey.*
- Advising a syndicate of development finance institutions on a $370 million syndicated senior unsecured facility for a commercial bank in Paraguay.*
- Advising a syndicate of development finance institutions on a $150 million syndicated facility for a Mongolian bank to finance green projects and to support women-, youth- and agriculture-focused SMEs and microenterprises in Mongolia.*
- Advising an impact private credit fund on a senior secured facility to a borrower in the e-mobility sector in Côte d’Ivoire.*
- Advising an asset manager dedicated to sustainable investing on a senior secured facility to a borrower in the e-mobility sector in Kenya.*
