Life Sciences

  • Leading the property elements of a £500 million investment into Bruntwood SciTech, as part of a strategic partnership with Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF) to support the growth and development of science and technology businesses in the Greater Manchester region. This landmark transaction involved property assets of more than £1.5 billion and was the 4th largest Real Estate project in the UK in 2023.
  • Advising on the collaboration between Bruntwood SciTech and University of Birmingham for the development of Birmingham Health Innovation Campus: a world-leading healthcare technologies hub located at the University's Selly Oak campus.
  • Advising Bruntwood SciTech in relation to the relocation of UK Biobank's headquarters to the new Greenheys building at Manchester Science Park. This was a complex transaction involving the redevelopment of Greenheys, complicated bespoke fit-out requirements for UK Biobank and unique lease requirements.
  • Advising Bruntwood SciTech in relation to the pre-let of Citylabs 4.0 at the Oxford Road Knowledge Corridor in to medical tech giant, Convatec. The relocation of global medical products and technologies R&D hub to Citylabs will help to drive forward pioneering work and cement Greater Manchester’s position as a leader in healthcare innovation. 

Living

  • Advising Watkin Jones on a number of student accommodation schemes, including two schemes in Bedminster, Bristol, totalling more than 1,000 beds and working with the University of Bristol to agree agreements of lease and lease in respect of beds in both schemes.
  • Leading the property elements of McLaren's sale by forward funding of a 737-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme at Upper Brook Street to Legal & General. The PBSA scheme is part of a wider £450m masterplan for the Upper Brook Street site: a key regeneration zone for Manchester, which will turn a 215,000 sq ft brownfield site into a major lab, offices space and living neighbourhood.
  • Leading the property elements of several UPP student accommodation projects including:
    • the University of Kent; 
    • The Nottingham Trent University; and
    • the University of Hull
