Addleshaw Goddard unveils new HQ in heart of the City of London

Addleshaw Goddard (AG), the international law firm, has opened the doors to its new 41 Lothbury headquarters, opposite the Bank of England in London’s Square Mile, underlining its commitment to clients in the City and beyond.

The new HQ brings together 800 London-based lawyers and professional staff in a bespoke, fit-for-the-future workspace, balancing neo-classical period features with the latest contemporary office design, to provide a bespoke workspace for the firm’s people and clients.

Andrew Johnston, Managing Partner at Addleshaw Goddard, says:

I am delighted that our new headquarters at 41 Lothbury is now open. For us it represents much more than just a new address. This move marks a significant milestone in our AG2030 strategy, reinforcing our position as a London-headquartered, international law firm committed to delivering excellence to our clients in the City, nationally and across all of our international markets.

The building has been reimagined to create a unique mix of heritage building and contemporary, sustainable workplace. Design choices have been made with our people and clients in mind, with an emphasis on collaboration, innovation and flexibility. It is a new home for AG in London and one that we can be truly proud of.”

The Grade II* listed building, the original head office of London & Westminster Bank (now NatWest) has undergone a major transformation led by international real estate business Pembroke who oversaw the complete repositioning, partnering with built environment specialists including design teams from Stiff + Trevillion architects, MTT and Campbell Reith, with the works delivered by Wates Construction. AG’s interior fitout was designed by architect tp Bennett and delivered by Mace Construction. From its historic façade to the iconic Banking Hall - now a contemporary, hospitality-inspired reception centred around a spectacular Jason Bruges light installation - the redevelopment stays true to the building’s 19th century heritage while creating a new era of sustainable, modern workspace.

Standout features include an impressive entrance hall, home to a barista coffee bar and five full-sized trees, complemented by heritage rooms, collaboration spaces and roof terraces with sweeping views across the City skyline. The design prioritises flexibility, wellbeing and collaboration, from tech-free zones for focused work to vibrant social areas for networking.

Matthew Knight, Senior Vice President, Head of Europe at Pembroke said:

It is a proud moment to see Addleshaw Goddard’s teams move into their new London headquarters at 41 Lothbury. We have worked closely with them and our construction partners to deliver a workplace customised to meet the needs of their teams who prioritise experience-driven, digital-first, sustainability-led working environments.

Our learnings from across our global portfolio have found people come to the workplace to maximize their time with colleagues, and office environments need to elevate connectivity and convenience to deliver this. As a result, 41 Lothbury provides an abundance of breakout spaces to bring teams together, a new vertical connection via a central atrium staircase to encourage flow around the building and numerous landscaped terraces. The focus on sustainability and wellbeing throughout the refurbishment programme will allow 41 Lothbury to stand the test of time and for Addleshaw Goddard’s team to grow and thrive.”

  • 126,158 sq ft of working space across seven floors
