Addleshaw Goddard advises Airedale Group on sale to Brenntag UK

International law firm Addleshaw Goddard has advised the shareholders of Airedale Group, a UK-based distributor of chemicals and added-value service provider, on its sale to Brenntag UK.

Airedale Group, an £81 million turnover business based in Keighley, North Yorkshire, will bring valuable expertise and significant blending and formulation capabilities to the UK network of Brenntag - the global market leader in chemicals and ingredients distribution.

The Addleshaw Goddard team advising on the deal was led by Richard Hunt and Caera Loughran, alongside Sophie Ovenden, Ozayr Makda, Aprille Lou, Poppy Webb, Martin Griffiths, Saarla Reddy and Hollie Burdiss. Founded in 1973, Airedale has grown from a small dye trader into a diversified chemical distributor through investing in new technologies and capabilities as well as strategic acquisitions across sectors including food and beverage and metal surface treatment.

Addleshaw Goddard previously advised the business on the shareholder buyout of the business in 2024.

Chris Chadwick, Executive Chairman of the Airedale Group, commented:

Our plans for expansion and diversification have always been ambitious, and, through several generations, we have built a strong supplier and customer base. With this step we will be joining a truly global player in chemical distribution, unlocking synergies for growth we can now capitalise on. I am very excited to join Brenntag in what will be a new chapter for our team, customers, and supply partners.”
