Growing our global footprint – Addleshaw Goddard continues its European expansion with new Berlin office launch and strategic team hire

International law firm Addleshaw Goddard continues its client-led expansion across Europe with the opening of an office in Berlin, Germany’s capital city. This brings the total number of AG offices in Germany to four, continental European offices to seven and total number of international offices to 17.

The German practice has grown significantly in recent years. Launched in Hamburg in 2019, Addleshaw Goddard expanded further into European markets important to clients, opening two more offices in Germany (Frankfurt and Munich) in 2022. Now, the firm’s presence in Berlin even more enhances its coverage in Germany, accelerating the firm's steep growth trajectory in Europe. Internationally, AG serves clients in the Middle East through four offices in the region (in the UAE, Oman, Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), in Asia through its hub in Singapore and also has a growing presence in Paris, Luxembourg, Dublin and in six of the UK's key commercial centres.

Addleshaw Goddard's Berlin office will initially include three high profile partners. After partner Kristina Baurschmidt and managing associate Dr. Natalia Kreuzer joined the real estate practice in May 2023, a renowned energy team now follows them to Germany’s newest office. Five of the seven energy lawyers including partners Dr. Boris Scholtka and Dr. Laurenz Keller-Herder, counsel Karl Holtkamp as well as two associates will be based in the Berlin office.

The real estate team advises national and international real estate companies and funds, family offices and industrial companies in real estate law including construction and architectural law with a special focus on plant construction.

The energy team advises clients from the energy sector and energy-intensive industry on all issues of German and European energy, renewable energy as well as regulatory and antitrust law.

Dr. Michael Leue, Addleshaw Goddard's Head of Germany, said:

Clients talk to us about better servicing their requirements by having more impact in Europe. We are very pleased to be able to offer an even more comprehensive service across the region with our new office in Berlin, new colleagues and additional areas of expertise. The energy team is very well known and respected in their market and share our vision to offer the very best client experience.
