Addleshaw Goddard (AG) has advised Burts Snacks, a UK-based premium snacking manufacturer, on its sale to Europe Snacks.

Founded in the UK in 1995, Burts Snacks is one of the fastest-growing, independent premium snacking manufacturers in the country. The company produces a wide range of branded, own-label, and co-manufactured snacks, including hand-cooked potato chips, lentil-based chips, popcorn, and other snacks. Burts Snacks supplies its offering to major retailers, leading brands, and out-of-home retail channels in the UK and more than 15 other countries. The company operates two manufacturing sites in Plymouth and Leicester.

Europe Snacks, a leading European producer of savoury snacks for third-party brands, has grown significantly in scale in recent years through organic growth and M&A, notably through the acquisition of Kolak Snack Foods in 2016 (UK) and Grupo Ibersnacks in 2018 (Spain).

The transaction is expected to close in March 2023.

Addleshaw Goddard's team advised on all legal elements of the transaction. The AG team was led by Marc Field, Partner (Mergers & Acquisitions), with support from Bruce Kilpatrick, Partner (Competition); Zoe Fatchen, Partner (Tax & Structuring); Magdalena Janki, Managing Associate (Corporate Finance); Mark Crane, Managing Associate, (Competition); Ciarán Ferry, Associate (Corporate Finance); Euan Mills, Associate (Tax & Structuring); Simeon Laird, Paralegal (Corporate); and Karen Brading (CoSec).
