Law firm Addleshaw Goddard has been named the most active legal advisers on M&A deals in Scotland for the second year running.

The latest Experian UK and Republic of Ireland M&A Review showed that the firm advised on 34 publishable deals in Scotland during 2021, more than double its nearest competitor.

The review showed that M&A volume bounced back in 2021, rising by 38%, while the value of the deals concluded more than trebled to £16.4 billion.

David Kirchin, Head of Scotland at Addleshaw Goddard and lead Partner of the firm's corporate team in Scotland, said: "These results once again show that, while a slowdown in activity might have been expected as a result of the ongoing pandemic restrictions throughout 2021, quite the opposite was true. The M&A market in Scotland was buoyant throughout the year and we expect that to continue this year. Areas such as tech, energy, manufacturing and professional services remain particularly attractive and there is strong interest supporting Scottish businesses' growth plans from UK and non-UK investors and private equity.
