Addleshaw Goddard has advised compliance and quality subscription services company The Citation Group on its acquisition by global investment firm KKR.

Citation, which provides tech-enabled services to over 40,000 SMEs across the UK, has been acquired from investors Hg.

The AG team was led by Private Equity partner Mike Hinchliffe and included Marc Field, Andy Green, Christina McNally, Gemma Phillips, Josh Nock, Mark Guttridge and Shoshana Hedayati.

Addleshaw Goddard advised Citation on its acquisition by Hg in 2016 and has continued to support the business on the company's organic expansion and strategic acquisitions over the last four years.

The Group helps SMEs to comply with relevant regulations and ensure levels of quality and standards are met in areas such as Health & Safety, HR/Employment Law, ISO and other industry specific rules and standards.

Mike Hinchliffe said: "Having advised Citation on its strategic development and expansion since 2016, we were a natural choice to support the business and its management team on the acquisition by KKR. The substantial growth that Citation has enjoyed in partnership with Hg is a testament to a clear strategy focussed on carefully planned expansion, both organic and through acquisition, to offer a compelling and comprehensive range of services to its core UK SME clientbase.

"It has been a pleasure to support the team throughout that journey and we are sure they will continue to go from strength to strength in partnership with KKR."
