Addleshaw Goddard is strengthening its Asia practice with the hire of two high calibre Legal Directors into its Hong Kong Disputes team.

Janie Wong joins as Legal Director having previously been at Dechert where she was Counsel. Janie specialises in cross-border investigations, international arbitration and complex commercial litigation with a focus on Asia, and represents clients in a large range of contentious matters. She also provides counsel on regulatory compliance, bribery and corruption issues.

Janie has been recognised in the legal directories and has been shortlisted for numerous awards, including 'Rising Star' in the Dispute Resolution (Litigation) in China Law and Practice Awards 2015; and is a member of the Arbitration Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong.

Eric Chan will join as Legal Director from Freshfields in Hong Kong where his practice focuses on both arbitration and litigation matters. Eric also has experience advising clients on regulatory investigations conducted by various regulators and governmental authorities. He has acted for listed companies, private banks, PE funds, manufacturers and electronic companies in high value court cases and arbitrations. Eric was named in the Legal 500 directory in 2015 and 2017 under the arbitration category.

These latest hires follow the appointment of Bob Charlton as Head of AG's Asia region earlier this year, as the firm looks to increase partner and associate headcount in order to deliver planned growth across the region.

Bob Charlton, AG's Head of Region – Asia, said: "I am delighted that Janie and Eric are joining our strong Disputes practice, bringing with them a wealth of experience which will help to unlock further opportunities in the region.

"Janie and Eric will focus on collaborating with our other practice areas, as well as AG's other offices, to help grow our Disputes practice. Their arbitration experience will also make them first-class additions to AG's International Arbitration Group."
