10.10am – 11.10am: Key themes and trends in employment law

This session will provide insight and analysis of key themes and trends emerging in employment law from the last 6 months and a review of what is on the horizon in the next 12 months.

11.15am – 12.00pm:  You have the choice of attending break-out sessions A or B: 

Session A: Managing your workforce in 2020 - what employers need to know

This session will consider the impact that Brexit, the Government's "Good Work Plan" and recent Tribunal decisions will have on the management of your workforce in 2020.  

Session B: Taxation of termination payments - a workshop on the PENP rules 

This workshop-style session offers the chance to take a deep-dive into the complexities of the PENP regime introduced in April last year.   

12.15pm – 13.15pm: A panel discussion on pay reporting and diversity in the boardroom 

Having grappled with gender pay gap reporting, large employers must now prepare for the light to be shone upon ethnicity pay as part of a trend towards greater transparency.  The Hampton-Alexander and Parker Reviews set stretching targets for companies on improving gender and ethnic diversity in the boardroom.  How is business measuring up?  

Our panel of leading experts will look at the lessons learned from gender pay gap reporting, the proposals for ethnicity pay reporting and the impact of greater transparency and changes in the boardroom on business.

Session A: Engaging contractors: IR35 reforms in the private sector

April 2020 will see a significant shift in business's liability for off-payroll working. This session will consider the proposed reforms to the IR35 (off-payroll working) regime and what they mean for employers.

Session B: GDPR one year on: what are the learning points for employers?

A year on from the dawn of the GDPR, this session will take stock of the key issues for the employment relationship and learning points for employers following what was the most significant change in data regulation for decades.

15.20pm – 16.30pm: Vicarious liability: understanding when an employer will be responsible for their employee's actions

Vicarious liability is becoming an increasingly challenging area for employers. This session will remind you of the legal framework, bring you up to speed with what the latest developments mean for employers and provide practical advice on how to manage the risks.

16.30pm: Closing words followed by afternoon tea
