BCL Legal and Addleshaw Goddard are delighted to invite you to our seminar at Addleshaw Goddard's Leeds office.

We will provide a refresher on the basics of competition law / antitrust compliance for inhouse lawyers and recent developments in competition law enforcement.

Areas to be covered include:

  • Back to basics: the basics of competition law – key issues that in-house lawyers should be aware of and watching out for. We will discuss the areas that will land your board in disqualification or even prison territory and the red lines the business should not cross.
  • Enforcement trends: recent cases, fines and the focus on enforcement against directors and individuals. We will also cover the recent focus on HR and people related antitrust enforcement as well as touching on some of the increased powers of the regulator in dawn raids and the increasing risk of private enforcement, including group litigation.
  • Avoiding the pitfalls: what a 'good' approach to compliance looks like, what is expected of you and taking a proportionate approach to high impact risks.

The session will be led by Mark Crane and Jake Minards-Tonge. Mark is a partner in the competition team based in the regions with extensive experience of a wide range of competition law issues. Mark regularly defends companies in competition law investigations (including dawn raids) and assists clients in managing compliance issues. Jake is a Legal Director in the commercial disputes team based in the regions, focused on competition litigation. Mark and Jake both have significant experience of representing clients in competition law related litigation, including in follow-on damages claims.

Questions from the audience will be encouraged.
