Expertise

John Woolley is a partner with a broad-based practice that focuses on the projects side of a wide range of international energy and infrastructure matters. He acts for clients in the power, utility, petrochemical, renewables and infrastructure industries on the development, construction and operation of a wide range of facilities. John has recently been working on a range of projects in the renewables space including offshore wind, utility scale solar, green hydrogen, biofuels and anerobic digestion. In infrastructure, he has recently been working on roads projects in the UK. John has worked extensively on projects in Africa.

RENEWABLES EXPERIENCE

Statkraft Highlands PSH: Advising on Loch na Cathrach pumped hydro storage contract construction packages.
Scottish Power Renewables: Advising on TSA for 1.3 GW East Anglia 3 windfarm with Siemens Gamesa; advising on turbine supply contract and cable contract, sub station contract and port development agreement for East Anglia Two 1.0 GW Wind farm; advising on turbine supply contract and cable contract and onshore cables civils contract for East Anglia 1 North wind farm.
Statkraft: Advising on TSAs for windfarms in Chile and Brazil with Vestas and Nordex; advising on Synchronous Condenser projects in the UK and Ireland; advising on framework contracts for turbine suppliers; advising on Solar project in India; hydro projects in Albania and pumped hydro in Scotland.
Stream Bioenergy: advising on contracts for anerobic digestion plants in Scotland and Ireland.
Aker Horizons: advising on contracts for the production of green hydrogen at a prototype plant and substantive facility in Norway.
Cleve Hill: advising Quinbrook / PEP on utility scale solar and storage project in UK.

Everstrong capital: advice in relation to prpoposed new road scheme between Nairobi and Mombasa.
Berkeley Energy: advising on maintenance contracts for run of river hydro scheme in Uganda
Bugesera Airport Company: Advising in relation to new airport project at Kigali, Rwanda including negotiating FIDIC yellow book EPC contract.

Webuild Consortium on bid to SSE on Corre Glas pumped Storage project.
ENI: advising on contracts to implement biofuels projects across the developing world.

Universal Studios: Advising on construction contracts for 5 billion GBP theme park in Bedford.
Kier Construction: advising on 2025 bid for major hospitals framework.
Kier Highways: Advising in relation to their appointment as an interim sub contractor in relation to Birmingham Highways maintenance PPP and advising in relation to their bid to be a permanent replacement subcontractor for the PPP.
Webuild, Bemo, FCC: consortium on successful bid for A303 Stonehenge tunnel project.

Tate & Lyle Sugars: advising in relation to various projects at the Thames refinery.
Metso Outotec: advising on a range of mining process plant and chemical processing facility projects including in Russia and Saudi Arabia.
