Ewen is a Partner in the London Leveraged Finance team who specialises in event driven financing transactions.

He acts for both lenders and borrowers across the spectrum of mid-market sponsor-backed financings, Ewen has a strong history of working closely with bank lenders and was also involved with the development of the direct lending market in Europe from its inception, advising lenders on unitranche and other types of direct lending products (including first loss/second loss, second lien, and PIK) as well as banks providing working capital and other facilities alongside the funds.

Recent deals Ewen has been involved with include:

• Advising the lenders on the €90m upsize and Holdco PIK for a European travel business
• Advising J.P. Morgan and Bank of America in their roles as financial advisers to Petershill Partners plc on its proposed US$921m capital return
• Advising Phoenix Private Equity on the financing of their acquisition of FutureMed
• Advising J.P. Morgan as financial adviser on the $2.9BN acquisition of Deliveroo by Door Dash
• Advising an award winning mid-market private equity firm on a PIK financing
• Advising Lenders to RSK in respect of their latest refinancing, adding a pan European working capital solution to the capital structure
• Advising DBAY and Frisbee Bidco on the public takeover of Finsbury Food Group
• Advising the lenders on the refinancing and upsize of £120m facilities for an offshore wind farm group.
