Expertise

Kelan began his legal career in 2018 at a boutique construction law firm in South Africa, where he predominantly worked on complex disputes arising from the construction and refurbishment of various forms of power plants in southern Africa.

After being admitted as an attorney in March 2021, Kelan relocated to the UK and joined a contentious construction team at a large national firm in 2022. Kelan successfully qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2024 and joined Addleshaw Goddard as an associate.

With a commitment to delivering strategic legal solutions, Kelan is dedicated to supporting his clients in navigating the complexities of the construction sector.  

 

Experience
  • Part of the successful legal team in adjudication proceedings for a manufacturing company, claiming damages against a contractor for breach of contract. 
  • Part of the successful legal team in the matter between Euler Hermes SA (NV) -v- Mackays Stores Group Limited and Others [2022] EWHC 1918 (Comm).
  • Part of the successful legal team in the Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa matter between Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Africa (Pty) Ltd -v- Murray & Roberts Ltd and Another (1011/2019) [2022] ZASCA 110;2021 (5) SA 532 (SCA).
  • A wide range of adjudication and arbitration proceedings, under FIDIC, in relation to the refurbishment of various power plants in South Africa.
