Based in Riyadh, Majid specialises in finance, insolvency, debt restructurings and both conventional and Islamic finance across all financing areas and asset classes.  He also advises on funds, capital markets and international commercial transactions.  Prior to joining Addleshaw Goddard, Majid worked at an international law firm focusing on shipping finance, maritime, trade and offshore sectors.  He has also lived and worked in Riyadh, Athens, Beirut, Dubai and London.

Experience
  • Advised a major investment bank on the establishment of a Shari’ah-compliant open-ended public equity fund, investing in shares listed on Tadawul and obtained approval from the Capital Market Authority (CMA).
  • Advised a syndicate of lenders on a SAR 3.8 billion debt restructuring for a listed entity involved in one of Saudi Arabia’s first giga projects.
  • Acted for a syndicate of lenders in relation to a multi-million-dollar secured loan facility provided to a NYSE-listed company to refinance existing indebtedness over eight LPG vessels and for working capital purposes.
  • Advised an international financial institution on a USD 400 million trade finance facility.
  • Advised a major UAE financial institution on a USD 25 million secured loan facility to a regional multi-brand F&B and technology group, including all Saudi law security documentation and related structuring aspects.
  • Advising on structured trade finance deals related to cross border receivables purchase and discounting facilities for international financial institutions and corporate sellers.
  • Advising a major international commodities trader on a secured financing and offtake structure relating to agroforestry and carbon-credit generation projects in Africa, involving receivables arising from agroforestry operations and verified carbon credits.
  • Advising a global pharmaceutical company on supply arrangements in Saudi Arabia relating to the localisation of pharmaceutical production.
