EXPERTISE
Dan is an English law qualified M&A partner who has been based in Warsaw office since 2006. He advises international corporates, financial sponsors and sovereign wealth funds on M&A in Türkiye, Ukraine, the CEE and Poland.
Dan co-heads the firm’s Warsaw Corporate/M&A practice and co-heads the firm’s Türkiye Group, Ukraine Group and CEE Group.
Before moving to Warsaw, Dan spent five years in Moscow office advising on a wide range of cross-border corporate transactions. Early on in his career, Dan worked for the European Commission and for a UK non-governmental organisation on conflict resolution projects in Georgia.
Dan has led on many of the region’s major transactions and has also worked with our disputes team on a number of arbitrations in the region.
Transaction experience includes advising*:
- Qatar Investment Authority on their acquisition of a 30% interest in the Istinye Park luxury shopping mall in Istanbul from the Doğuş Group, the resulting joint venture arrangements with co-owners Doğuş Group and the subsequent sale of their interest.
- Metair Investments Limited, a leading South African investment holding company, on the disposal of its Turkish business, the Mutlu Group, to Quexco Inc. The Mutlu Group manufactures and trades energy storage products and solutions and is one of the largest automotive battery manufacturers in Türkiye.
- Qatar Investment Authority on the acquisition of an indirect interest in a concession holder of the Eurasia Tunnel, which runs under the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul, from a South Korean Construction and gas company and the resulting joint venture with a Turkish group.
- Ultra-fast delivery group Getir on a number of M&A, financing and corporate matters.
- Interxion, a Digital Realty company, on its acquisition of Greece's largest data center company, Lamda Hellix.
- Raiffeisenbank A.S., a Czech subsidiary of Raiffeisen Bank International on its acquisition of a 100% stake in the Czech retail bank, Equa Bank, from AnaCap Financial Partners.
- Exim Bank of Romania on its purchase of the National Bank of Greece’s 99.28% equity holding in Banca Romaneasca.
- Ukrainian group DCH on the acquisition of the DMZ steel mill from Evraz plc.
- Qatari-based beIN Media Group on the acquisition of Turkish pay-TV provider Digitürk.
