Addleshaw Goddard appoints Matthew Brewer to partner to strengthen FS M&A team in London

London, United Kingdom – International law firm Addleshaw Goddard has appointed Matthew Brewer to join as a partner to strengthen the FS M&A team in London.

Matthew joins Addleshaw Goddard from Pinsent Masons where he worked on complex financial services transactions for insurers and banks including insurance and banking Part VII transfers, schemes of arrangement and reinsurance and insurance advisory work.

Chris Taylor, head of M&A, commenting on Matthew's appointment said:

"We are delighted to confirm that Matthew Brewer will be joining the M&A team in London as a Partner.  Matthew started his career at Herbert Smith Freehills before taking partnership at Pinsent Masons. His recruitment fulfils a long-held ambition to have greater focus on M&A in the insurance market and he will work closely with Oliver Broomfield to build our presence in this market. He will also provide key reinsurance transactional capabilities to our Pensions team where insuring/de-risking defined benefit pension scheme liabilities is set to be a growing trend for UK Plcs."

This appointment is the latest of a number of partner hires in financial services following the hires of asset management regulatory experts Marco Zingler in Frankfurt, Jeanne-Marie Moriarty in Dublin and Lisa Lee Lewis in London.
