Recent statistics from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) highlight the ongoing significance of employee welfare and workplace stress. During 2024/25 in Great Britain, 1.9 million workers were suffering from work-related ill health, with over half (52%) of these cases attributed to stress, depression, or anxiety. Specifically, 964,000 workers experienced work-related stress, depression, or anxiety, resulting in 22.1 million working days lost in the same year. These figures underline the critical importance of effective strategies to manage psychological risks and support employee welfare, especially in high-pressure sectors like financial services.

The event will feature presentations from AG’s employment and health and safety teams, focusing on legal obligations, best practices for supporting employee mental health, and practical guidance for compliance with evolving regulatory expectations, like the BSI’s new standard for addressing suicide in the workplace. The session will also examine the financial and reputational costs associated with poor management of workplace stress and ill health, as well as potential enforcement outcomes.

The presentations will provide actionable insights for legal teams to proactively address welfare and stress issues, ensuring robust risk management and a supportive workplace culture.

Please note that these sessions will be dealing with sensitive topics relating to mental health and the new standard, BS 30480: Suicide and the Workplace. If you do not wish to receive any further communications about this event, please let us know.
