How we helped an international airport launch their first in-house legal team

Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) embarked on an exciting new chapter in 2023, appointing its first General Counsel to build a legal function from the ground up.

Faced with the dual challenge of establishing a new team while managing high-value commercial contracts, LBA required agile, expert legal support. We acted quickly and efficiently to address LBA’s immediate needs and placed an interim legal consultant within ten working days of receiving instruction. Initially engaged for four months, the consultant’s assignment has now been extended until summer 2025, reflecting their value to LBA. Their expertise spans high-value, complex contracts, including retail outlet agreements, general terms and conditions, and concessions for car hire and valet operators.

Additionally, AG Integrate provided an interim paralegal for a two-month project to support LBA’s transition to a new document management system. This involved reviewing and classifying a variety of contracts, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition.

Beyond day-to-day support, AG Integrate facilitated strategic discussions to optimise LBA’s external legal framework. This included making introductions to AG Partners specialising in real estate, competition, and transport.
