Addleshaw Goddard strengthens cyber investigations offering with senior appointment
International law firm Addleshaw Goddard has further reinforced its Global Investigations team with the appointment of James Moss as Director of Cyber Investigations, underscoring the firm’s continued investment in its cyber and data-related disputes offering.
James brings significant expertise in managing complex, multi-jurisdictional cyber and data incidents, with experience across the full lifecycle of investigations—from pre-incident planning and training to crisis response, regulatory enforcement, and litigation strategy.
A core part of his background includes his senior leadership role at the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), where he served as Director of Enforcement and General Counsel to Commissioner Elizabeth Denham CBE. During his time there, he led on all major enforcement actions and played a key role in shaping the UK’s regulatory response to cyber and data issues.
Prior to his time at the ICO, James spent more than a decade in private practice at DLA Piper, advising on a wide range of white-collar crime and regulatory matters.
His appointment follows the recent arrival of digital disputes specialist James Hyde, who joined as a Partner in the firm’s Leeds office from Eversheds Sutherland, where he led the international TMT disputes and Telecoms practices. Together, Moss and Hyde significantly enhance the firm’s ability to advise across the civil and criminal dimensions of cyber, data, and digital disputes.
James will play a key role in the continued growth of Addleshaw Goddard’s Tech Group, which is expanding its contentious capabilities alongside a market-leading non-contentious practice. Other recent senior hires into the group include Richard Watkinson, Michael Peeters, Nathalie Trainor, and Ben Cooke.
