Building financial confidence and independence: Pensions & investing, with AG alumna Funmi Olufunwa

Following the success of last year’s session, we’re delighted to invite alumni and colleagues to another interactive financial wellbeing event with AG alumna Funmi Olufunwa, to mark International Women’s Day 2026.

This year’s session will build on the foundations of financial confidence and turn its focus to pensions and investing, topics that many of us know are important, but can often feel complex or daunting. As before, the session is open to everyone, and male allies are warmly encouraged to attend as we continue to close knowledge and confidence gaps around personal finance.

Workshop focus

Led by Funmi Olufunwa, Finance Expert and Founder of Hoops Finance, this practical and engaging session will cut through the noise around pensions and investing, helping attendees feel more informed, confident and in control of their financial futures.

Topics will include:

  • Making sense of savings and investing choices - Addressing common questions such as “What are the best options for my savings?” and “What’s the smartest thing to do with my money?”
  • Cash ISAs, tax changes and investing in the UK - The government's aim of incentivising domestic investment, the planned reduction of the annual cash ISA allowance in 2027 and what this means in practice.
  • Demystifying investing - Unpacking the idea of “I don’t invest” and the reality that anyone with a pension is already an investor.
  • Pensions in practice - A guided walkthrough of payslips and pension statements (attendees are encouraged to bring these along) and managing multiple pension pots.

After the main session, attendees will have the opportunity to meet 1:1 with Funmi if they'd like a brief personalised chat.
