Our culture is your story - Paula Bruton
When I first joined AG 32 years ago, we were a firm of 200 people based in one office in Manchester. Fast forward to now and I lead a team of over 200 people across multiple offices. Things for myself and the firm have changed a lot.
In 1993 I joined Addleshaw Sons & Latham as a Legal Secretary. I was applying for a variety of roles and when the firm called me two hours after my interview to offer me the job, I accepted with no hesitation. I was not looking for a career in a law firm at the time, in fact I was not really thinking about a career of any sort at that point, I just wanted to get started somewhere.
After four years the firm introduced a PA Team Leader role and I applied for it alongside two other secretaries who were far more experienced than I was. I was not the obvious choice for the role, but a Partner at the firm saw my ambition, believed in me and set me on the path of managing people. His investment changed my life, and I am forever grateful to him.
That experience epitomises two of the things I love about AG. People and opportunity. The people I work with at this firm are great and there is always plenty of opportunity for growth and development. I tell the younger people in my team to be ambitious, you really can do anything you set your mind to at AG. The culture supports it, and the people here want to make it happen for you.
