When I started working at the firm I had very clear ideas on what my career trajectory would be. I wanted to become a lawyer, but I did not want to practice at a global law firm. At the time AG had three large UK offices so it was the perfect place to achieve my goals, but after two successive knock backs when applying for a training contract I had to pivot and go another way. I took some advice and started to explore an opportunity that would lead to me becoming a manager in the team I was in.

It was a difficult moment, but looking back the firm gave me more options than they took away. I was helped to grow and given the tools to develop down a career path that has worked out really well for me.

Over a decade later I am still with the firm and change continues at pace, both personally and professionally. I have changed, and so has AG. I now find myself at a global law firm, and I am pleased to say it does not feel anything like I expected it would. 

I always thought that you would be invisible at an international law firm, like you were just a very small part of a very large headcount. My experience of AG has been the opposite of that, I feel like an integral part of what we do and I think we have lost none of our authenticity as the business has scaled.

Authentic is a word I use to describe AG as it sums up my experience of a firm that has really been there for me through different parts of my life and career. During some difficult moments in life the firm has provided access to counselling and cognitive behavioural therapy as a way to support me, and during those harder times I have been impressed and truly grateful for AG’s commitment to the whole person.

Loyalty is one of those words that can feel old fashioned or even a bit manipulative, but I think it is appropriate to describe how I feel towards AG. Everything I need to succeed is here and I have a clear understanding of who this firm is and where we are going.
