Addleshaw Goddard's prolific Private Equity team has once again outshone the competition to be awarded the title of UK Legal Adviser of the Year at the Real Deals Private Equity Awards for the third time in four years.

The team has demonstrated impressive growth over the last year, advising on over 80 private equity deals – more than ever before. It has also enjoyed a number of exciting new client wins, and advised eight out of the top 10 most prolific investors in the UK mid-market, cementing its position as the leading legal adviser for UK mid-market Private Equity firms. This has been further reinforced through the outstanding execution and commercial awareness shown by the team on a number of prolific mandates including:

  • Advising Terra Firma in relation to the disposal process for Wyevale Garden Centres
  • Advising Inflexion on a its investments in Granite Insurance, UK Fast, Chambers and Partners and Mountain Warehouse, and the successful disposals of CloserStill, Outdoor Plus and UK Power Reserve
  • Advising ECI on its investments in MThree Corporate Consulting and Oaktree Group
  • Advising LDC on a number of transactions including the buyouts of RIBA Enterprises and Right Choice, and on its disposal of Seabrooks Crisps.

The awards are the oldest and most respected accolades recognising the Private Equity industry and its advisers. Alongside recognition of the firm's strong City practice and maintained dominance across the north of England, the team is also broadening its client base in Scotland, and continues to advise a number of international private equity firms through its growing offices in the Middle East and Asia.

Yunus Seedat, Corporate and Commercial Divisional Managing Partner, comments: "In terms of both deal volume and revenue, our practice has grown by more than 50 per cent in the last four years – a level of growth that no other law firm in the market has even come close to, and this award is a fantastic testament to that."
