Angus is a corporate Partner. He has over 25 years' experience of advising on public and private mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, joint ventures, complex reorganisations and private equity and investment transactions across a number of sectors. He has particular expertise in the energy and natural resources sectors, including transactions involving Africa. 


His experience includes advising on the following deals:

  • BP on its US$200m equity investment in global solar developer Lightsource, to form Lightsource BP
  • BP on the sale to Essar of its interest in the Kingsbury storage terminal, its Northampton storage terminal and part of its interest in the UKOP pipeline
  • SSE on its acquisition from Fluor of the 50% interest in offshore wind developer Seagreen Wind Energy that it did not own previously
  • SSE on the restructuring of its equity interest in the Dogger Bank offshore wind farm JV, including acquiring part of Statkraft's JV interest, a swap of equity interests between SSE and Equinor on the one hand and Innogy on the other, and new shareholders' agreements 
  • BP on the sale of its Belfast storage terminal to Puma Energy 
  • Atlas Merchant Capital and QInvest LLC on the recommended takeover of Panmure Gordon 
  • South East Water on the sale of its non-domestic retail water business to Castle Water
  • PA Resources in connection with its restructuring including the sale of its North Sea interests to Petrogas, the sale of its Tunisian assets to ETAP, and an option over its Congo assets to Petrogas, as well as various interim financings and related security packages
  • Seven Energy on various fundraisings including a US$255m equity fundraising with Temasek and International Finance Corporation, a US$100m fundraising from the Islamic Development Bank Infrastructure Fund and existing shareholders, a convertible bond issue to Goldman Sachs, Ashmore and others, and a rights issue, and related changes to its shareholders agreement
  • SSE on the sale, in two tranches, of 35 per cent of its equity interest in Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners
  • SSE on the sale of Langhope Rig onshore windfarm to GE
  • Seven Energy on its acquisition from Oando plc of East Horizon Gas Company Limited, a gas distribution and marketing company that operates the 128 km East Horizon gas pipeline in Nigeria
  • Seven Energy on the acquisition of numerous upstream interests onshore Nigeria, including the acquisitions of interests in SRL 905, SRL 907 and SRL 917
  • Metalysis Limited on various fundraisings, including equity investments by Iluka Resources and by Woodford Investment Management
  • Cairn Energy on its £414 million recommended takeover of Nautical Petroleum plc
