James is Partner in the Dubai corporate practice and has experience advising corporates, financial institutions and private equity houses on a variety of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate re-organisations, joint ventures and disposals, including specific experience in the retail and consumer space. James also has experience in running multiple bolt-on acquisition programmes for large corporates with a focus on high volume, lower value acquisition processes. Prior to joining the Dubai team, James worked in the AG Leeds office for several years.

  • Acting for Samworth Brothers on its disposal of its desserts business, Blueberry Foods, to Bakkavor.
  • Advising LDC on its investment in NBS alongside The Royal Institute of British Architects and members of the management team.
  • Advising the selling shareholders on the sale of recruitment sector business de Poel to Bain Capital.
  • Advising the shareholders of Go Outdoors (including 3i and YFM) on the GBP 112 million sale to JD Sports.
  • Advising the selling shareholders of Symington's (including ICG) on the sale to Newlat Food.
  • Advising M.K.M and its shareholders on a secondary MBO backed by Bain Capital.
  • Advising the selling shareholders of direct to consumer, energy drink business Sneak Energy on the majority investment by UK private equity house, True.  
  • Advising SGG (funded by Astorg Partners) on the acquisition of multi-jurisdictional fund administration business, Augentius.
  • Working on high volume multiple acquisition programmes for both Simply health and the Broker Network.
