He has extensive experience in business and retail development including site acquisition, development finance, speculative and pre-let development, and in establishing management structures. Acting for quoted property companies, institutional investors, developers, lenders and occupiers, Michael also handles the acquisitions and disposal of a wide range of investment properties and advises on real estate joint ventures.

  • Advising The British Land Company plc on the disposal of the Debenhams department store on Oxford Street for circa £400m
  • Advising a Shell International in connection with the £300m disposal of land on the Southbank in Central London and the development and leaseback of a 210,000 sq ft global headquarters building
  • Advising a major propco on the acquisition and subsequent major redevelopment of a circa 350,000 sq ft shopping centre, including negotiations on joint venture arrangements with the local authority freehold owner
  • Advising Battersea Power Station Development Company on the commercial lettings for the first three phases of the redeveloped Battersea Power Station, together with the acquisition from Network Rail and development of land adjacent to the main site
  • Advising The British Land Company plc on the redevelopment of 520,000 sq ft of office and retail space at 100 Liverpool Street, on its Broadgate campus, including agreements with Network Rail, Transport for London and Crossrail to facilitate the development
  • Advising on the acquisition, forward funding and development of the 300,000 sq ft Old Livestock Market retail scheme in Hereford, including advising on a development agreement with the local authority
  • Advising George Capital on the formation of its first fund and on a number of subsequent acquisitions and disposals from its portfolio
  • Advising the development on the structuring, development and plot disposals of a 200 acre mixed use business park adjacent to the A303
  • Advising a developer on the acquisition, development, refinancing and ultimate disposal of a 412 unit student accommodation project on land leased from Network Rail
