Addleshaw Goddard has strengthened its leveraged finance team with the appointment of partner Ewen Scott from Jones Day.

Ewen, is well-known in the leveraged finance market having worked at both DLA Piper and Ashurst before joining Jones Day. He specialises in acting for lenders (including debt funds and alternative lenders), sponsors and portfolio companies, both in the UK and internationally.

Ewen's hire is a clear statement of intent by AG. The AG team has been systematically growing in both revenue and reputation over the past five years. Adding Ewen to the partnership bolsters not just the leveraged finance practice but also the closely-allied private equity team. His expertise in leveraged finance across lenders and private equity sponsors helps cement the team's reputation as offering a full-service delivery option in a highly competitive market.

This is the latest in a series of high-profile hires by Addleshaw Goddard to further strengthen its London and international finance team. Recent hires include Jeremy Cross to make a 3 partner funds finance practice (London), a structured finance team led by partner Rachel Kelly (London), partner Lequn Su (Joe) to head a China desk (London), strengthening the German finance offering with the addition of partner Nadine Bourgeois (based in Frankfurt), as well as the internal promotion of new partner Helen Hunter (London).

Alex Dumphy, head of leveraged finance, said: "Ewen is highly-respected in the market and brings with him an enviable portfolio of skills and expertise.

"As Addleshaw Goddard continues to grow and develop both our City practice and our comprehensive finance offering, Ewen's first-rate knowledge of the debt advisory world will help us to deliver an ever-stronger roster of services for our client base – and we are delighted to welcome him to the team."
