Value Dynamics is an evolving best practice toolkit for practitioners tasked with leading in-house legal teams, be they small domestic teams or large multifaceted international organisations.
The result of a major study we undertook in 2011, Value Dynamics provides insight, fresh perspectives and practical ideas for addressing the many and varied challenges faced by modern general counsel (GC) and heads of legal, with the end goal of helping them to deliver greater value for their organisations.
Our work is based upon the experiences of our panel of contributors from different working backgrounds and sectors, from banking and finance, to pharmaceutical, FMCG and construction. Despite this breadth, they are all focused on the challenge of leading their teams to efficiently deliver value for their organisations.
Our challenge was to capture and distil the best of their insights and ideas to create a toolkit that can help GCs shape and prioritise their agendas for their own teams. Clearly, one size fits one and what has worked somewhere else will not necessarily be the best option. However, by sharing the insights of others and developing some practical tools and frameworks around the core challenges faced by GCs, our goal is to significantly raise the bar in terms of the practical guidance available in the market.
Four central challenges were identified (value, structural, performance and talent) which have a material impact on the ability of a GC to deliver value. For each we have created a separate booklet, which explores the challenge before providing some practical guidance and insight and suggesting some actions that GCs can take with their teams in developing appropriate strategies for their own organisations.
