Simon is a commercial real-estate specialist with a wide range of technical expertise. He advises on all aspects of commercial real estate matters including acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, landlord and tenant, real estate financing and corporate support work.

Experience

Simon's experience includes:

  • Involved in a variety of aspects of property work for Columbia Threadneedle including sales, purchase, leases and day-to-day property management work;
  • Advising WeWork with their leases in London and Manchester;
  • Acting on the transfer of and asset management strategy for the commercial elements within Phase 2 of the Battersea Power Station development;
  • Advising on the purchase with funding of a shopping centre in Basingstoke for in excess of £60,000,000;
  • Being part of a team on the acquisition for £38,200,000 of a portfolio of industrial estates;
  • On the acquisition of Newport Shopping Centre, South Wales for a Canadian investor.*
  • As part of a team on the acquisition for £38,200,000 of a portfolio of industrial estates for IPIF.*
  • As part of a team on the acquisition of BBC Television Centre.*
  • Assisting an Abu-Dhabi based property company on a deal to convert Great Scotland Yard into a luxury 5-star hotel.*
  • Advising Berkeley Homes on the on-going development of the Wood Lane site adjacent to Westfield.*
  • Advising Telereal Trillium on a joint venture with Bellway Homes Limited for the development of 120 units in Leeds.*
  • For a financial services company on the grant of its UK HQ office space in Kings Cross for a term of ten years at an annual rent in excess of £2,000,000.*
  • For a retailer on the grant of a lease on Carnaby Street at an annual rent in excess of £200,000.*
  • As part of a team advising on the refinancing of two hotels in Central London for £40,000,000.*
  • Acting on the disposal of a US based subsidiary for circa £32,900,000, including transferring freehold property out of the target pre-completion and assigning two leases to the target together with short term underleases back to the seller post-completion.*
  • Acting for Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity in relation to their portfolio of property in and around the hospitals.*
